Take the helm and learn to sail in the Greek Islands.
It is one thing enjoying life at sea as a passenger, and quite another to take the helm of your own boat. The exhilarating power and the freedom of being at the wheel is one of life’s great experiences.
There is nothing quite like learning to sail.
Skippering your own boat is now more attainable than ever, even for complete beginners, on our professional and fun sailing training courses from our base in Lavrion, Greece. It’s also easy to reach us because we are only 30 minutes transfer from Athens International Airport.
Up until now the standard route to gaining skipper status which is offered by many sailing schools can be quite daunting: 5 days practical, 5 days theory instruction then another 5 day practical course.
This is why many students now learn to sail opting for our flexible ‘Blended Learning‘ approach – the easiest, most cost effective and fun way to train for your skipper certificate in the clear, warm water of the Mediterranean.
Atlas Sailing with the IYT (International Yacht Training) can also train and certify residents of all countries unlike certification through many other schools.
Our new ‘Blended Learning’ allows students to acquire the theory module online – at home, on your mobile, at the office or wherever is most convenient – at a fraction of the usual cost.
Take as long as you need to complete the online theory course without the pressure of a ticking clock. This then allows you to spend more valuable time on the water with our course of 7 days as opposed to the standard 5. And best of all, you learn in a relaxed environment in great weather on the blue waters of the Med.
Do you really want to learn to sail in cold, grey and damp waters around Britain or Northern Europe? Didn’t think so.
Generally speaking, to charter in the Med you will require a minimum of ICC (International Certificate of Competence) so it may be possible to do the online theory then take the ICC straight away so this may meet your requirements. The step after this is International Bareboat Skipper which requires previous experience. I will give you the basic costs below but please contact me anytime either by phone or using the contact form below if you require further information.
Even if you are a complete beginner, after your first practical week you will finish the week at a level to feel confident enough to be a competent member of a crew.
Whether you have any sailing experience or not please get in touch if you are unsure where to start and we will gladly talk you through it.
Once you have successfully completed the minimum ICC course you will be able to charter your own yacht in many countries in the Mediterranean.
