Over recent months I have been trying to sort out further training schedules/courses with the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) and after numerous polite telephone calls and emails they have still not had the courtesy to reply to me even though I have been actively trying to promote sailing in our area.
If I was based further south I am positive that I would have received more cooperation but this has not been the case.
After much deliberation and consideration I decided to look into offering alternative training so……. I can announce that I am now FULLY accredited to offer International Yacht Training here in the UK.
The RYA seem to think they have a monopoly on this and many people think that the RYA route is the only option to obtain their training and ultimately their Skipper’s Licence. I have proved this is not the case. This is not a decision I have taken lightly but I have found that the IYT training is actually much better in many if not all cases and levels.
I am the FIRST training centre to break away from the RYA and am quite proud to say that I am the first in the United Kingdom to offer practical IYT training here and it makes it much more sweeter that I have actually brought this to LANCASHIRE.
I will be putting more details out in due course but wanted to announce this on Lancashire Day because it’s not only a first for Lancashire but a first for the UK and the IYT are over the moon that I have decided to use their scheme and have been very supportive in the process.
Btw Keep your eyes on my site www.atlassailing.co.uk as I will be updating with more info.
