Well, after much deliberation we’ve decided we are staying in Greece. We were thinking of moving the yacht back over to Spain but after doing a list of what each place had to offer, Greece came out on top.
We’ll still be doing a few charters even though we had planned to scale this back. After all the happenings of the last 18 months we realised how much we miss the sailing.
Initially we were going to be using another skipper to do most of the other charters but we fortunately found out in time that he was somewhat unreliable….enough said about that though.
New Milebuilder Cruises
One change for this year is that I will also be doing some Milebuilder cruises. These are for people that are looking to build up their sailing experience or get another few miles under their belt to progress to the next level of qualification. These cruises are also good to find out about sailing around Greece prior to perhaps chartering a yacht yourself as there are quite a few challenges that can take the unprepared by surprise.
In addition to this, although we are now based in Korfos, we will be doing the start & finish of the cruises from marinas along what’s called the Athenian Riveria.
We’ve just returned from Greece, we’d gone out to check on the Covid situation and do some work on the boat. This didn’t happen because ended up being ‘snowed in’ for 3 days at Corinth…….Yes, you read that correctly, SNOW IN GREECE. It can get quite cold in January but having so much snow is a bit out of the ordinary.
Anyway, suffice to say, we didn’t get any work done!
I’m pleased to say that although there are still restrictions regarding Covid, it’s nothing like as bad as I’d expected and I honestly think that most of these will have gone by the time the season starts.
That’s it for now but I’ll post another update soon enough.
